Quality of life, job creation, strong real estate …. For 10 years, Nantes figures in the top 5 most attractive cities in France, demonstrated by a new ranking system carried out by the Journal des Entreprises in partnership with the magazine Challenges.
A vision of green and blue, the city, on the banks of the river, less than an hour from the Atlantic Ocean and two hours from Paris, the regional capital of Pays de la Loire distinguishes itself every year by topping the charts on attractiveness for its exceptional quality of life.
But this ranking goes further and positions Nantes as one of the most dynamic cities of the Hexagon. Of all study criteria, the city of Nantes is in 4th place behind Toulouse, Montpellier and Rennes, but ahead of Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille and Paris.
Strong job creation
Nantes is highlighted as one of the most dynamic cities in France: the job creation rate rose sharply (+ 22% over the last 10 years) and one of the strongest for executive employment growth in France (+47.7%, just behind Toulouse). The latter evolution is explained by a very diverse economic base, resting on a string of sectors which plays a beneficial role of absorbing shock in times of crisis.
+ 22% of new Nantais
Consequently this dynamism, this attraction to Nantes only increases. Spread the word: the number of new Nantais has increased 22% over the past 10 years, a rate twice as much as Lyon, for example. An appeal which has particularly effected the increase of building works with a high proportion of new housing. This is evidenced by the cranes as far as the eye can see in the Nantes sky.
The downside is, like all cities that attract, competition among employees is high and the average hourly net wage has progressed slightly more slowly than elsewhere.
